Then I remembered this tool. Kind of expensive. I have used Google for free so I’m not sure I would use this or not, but they have a page of pricing stuff so that is why I’m showing you. I like the simplicity of the pages here. When things get more complex, simplicity doesn’t work so well as a mobile apps page.

That, and of course, there is that lady who developed a twitter apps company. I’ll have to review that again when I have time. I also don’t like the Navy Blue Ribbon as a color for child sex trafficking. I tried translucent, but that is pretty weird too, even when you put Oath or those other companies logos on top, the color then changes and defeats the purpose of clear. I kind of like Black, like against Pirates. Do you think pirates are sex traffickers? Anti-pirate campaign? Kind of funky isn’t it.

Sacramento Youth Pastor, Cole Zick says, “We believe that there is a large group of the young adult population that are choosing to make abstinence a lifestyle. Regardless of if they are virgins, have been sexually active, or are some where in the middle, many are choosing to wait starting today.”

This is all being done through Facebook, Twitter, and the WeWillWait.org Website. Many students have already posted videos, the web page’s green logo has begun to circulate through social media circles and it’s rumored that Tim Tebow may have even, “liked” a couple photos that were spread by the movement.

The overall message of the site is that; regardless of where you are at currently, today you can make the choice to wait. “This is not a call to perfection but rather a focus on the value of an individual,” says wewillwait.org. It goes on to say,” By making sex casual we have robbed marriage and the concepts of family long before people ever get to that phase of life.” The final statement in the opening blog sums up their goal, “If we all come together this movement can make a difference to restore truth to this country and take the casual back out of sex.”

My natural thought is that Brogan is simply doing the usual, trying to collect blog hits. Being a social media star has been popular with him from the beginning claiming himself to be the expert. I still don’t know who he is J The only thing I really noted, was his link back connection. Okay, I looked at the rest but I just read about another author with this same kind of list fifteen minutes earlier. Try not to take that negatively, but in a positive light. Put the lists in the shredder, and decide, what is it that you want to accomplish. More links, connections, etc, then people kind of get obsessed about those details.

For someone like Pamala (hey, spelled different) I would make Angel Food cakes or those white fluffy cakes and start selling them to support Human Trafficking. Yes, a bake sale. Make one cake though, which you can sell all over the world. Part of the proceeds can go to support Humans. The reason I say cakes, is that it is like girlscout cookies. You can sell them over and over again.

You know what I am talking about you’ve gotten the ‘phone call’ too. The phone call from a new and excited Network Marketer. She called me after 9pm  and had barely come up for air by 9:35 she was so excited and in ‘sales mode’ I learned a lot about ‘my prospect in those 58 minutes before we hung up the phone and I only asked 3 questions!

The Late Legendary Sales Trainer & MLM Mentor Bob Schmidt said: “If you ask enough of the right QUESTIONS, you’ll eventually get the answers you want.”

In the World of Sales you must ALWAYS BE LOOKING FOR A NEW CUSTOMER! And you must ALWAYS BE LISTENING! You see, people WANT to buy…they just don’t want to be sold to. And your prospect is ALWAYS telling you how they want to be sold to.

By listening to my prospect (and notice I called her ‘my prospect’ even though she called me to pitch ME!) Reverse Prospecting is one of the MOST effective forms of recruiting in Network Marketing.

In the 58 minutes I listened to Jan (not her real name I know some of you are REALLY good with Google!) She told me: Her WHY she wanted in this ‘Pyramid Scheme thingy’ and WHY she thought THIS was the perfect opportunity for her and for me.

In fact she had just stumbled upon our industry of Network Marketing and the same industry I am now supporting my wife in her new venture in Energy Deregulation.

So will she come into my company as a customer and rep? We’ll see, and let you know but the point is: Had I shut her down in the first 7 minutes of her non-stop exhale I would have surely lost a FUTURE sale and worse, risked a very important friendship.

On my way back from speaking with my business partner Nathan R. Mitchell with Clutch Consulting I decided there must be a better way for Tulsa’s unemployed workers to find work.

4 Dont’s if you want to get hired in Tulsa:

1.) Don’t update your resume-That’s really a waste of time when looking for a new job.

2.) Don’t spend time on Linkedin and other Social Media sites hoping to get hired.

3.) Don’t turn down a job picketing in front of your former employers location (you may get hired by a drive by, a drive-by-hires are on the rise and should soon trend the unemployment numbers down.) Most good HR Managers and CEOs like to hire people who picket former employers. (It helps narrow the hiring curve for them-no more expensive testing and interviewing-so outdated!)

4.) Don’t shave  or get out of bed before noon-the best jobs found after 5 pm so you really shouldn’t even start your job search before 3 pm or you may appear over eager and not get hired.

Are these guys getting paid? Couldn't they go find a job instead of standing out here day after day?

At age 15 the phone seemed to weigh a ton-But mom made sure I knew how to call my customers

My very first real business was a lawn mowing business.

Before I bought my dad’s ’63 Chevy and drove all over Vinita, OK mowing 14 lawns I needed help with transportation at age 15 and needed mom, dad or my brother to drive me to my lawn mowing jobs.  I had ran the ads in the newspaper, serviced my lawn-mower with a sharp blade and new spark plug and was ready to make cash.

Inevitably we’d get a good Oklahoma rain on the Saturday it was time to mow and I’d have to do what I hated most….pick up the phone and call every single one of my customer’s and tell them I wouldn’t be mowing until it was dry enough. “But they already know this, I’d complain to mom.” “Yes but they deserve a phone call and they will appreciate hearing it directly from you.” Those early days of phone calling my customer’s didn’t come easily. Like many kids I felt I felt self-conscious around adults. It didn’t help that I stuttered as a child and although I had grown out of that it was still hard to call customers and talk on the phone.

But my mom’s persistence and my determination took me through several summers of quality cash and Entrepreneurship that will later pave the road to many more business ventures that involved using the phone and closing the deal.
People skills-Sales people need this skill.

My Childhood Lawn Mowing Business Helped Prepare me for my Future

I learned how to:

submit bids
invoice customers
budget money
plan operations
hire and pay subcontractors
how to market
negotiate
offer the ‘up-sell,’ save,
plan expenditures, and expand into new markets and how to buy and sale a business.

Not only do I think every kid in America needs the chance to be mentored in running their own business but I think every business owner and Entrepreneur needs to be reminded of the value of the telephone in growing a business. Nothing can replace a personal phone call. 

Email is great, Social Media is even better but nothing can replace the value of picking up the phone and making a call. Making a sales call, a customer service call, a difficult call or termination call. When it needs to get done and needs to be done right. Pick up the phone and do it with class and professionalism. You’ll be remembered long after you are gone.

In fact, I recently ran into one of my very first lawn mowing customer’s that was a client in Vinita, OK where I grew up. Bruce Niemi is now in Tulsa and ran for Tulsa School Board recently. This 1963 Chevy I bought from my dad when I turned 16 from the money I saved from mowing lawns

There are many things that go into the ‘making of a man’ I suppose. Growing older, taking on responsibility, time spent with dad, growing facial hair or buying a pick up truck.

There are so many stories of ‘manhood’ learned on this camping trip at Camp Gruber, in 1984, age 15.

I had this photograph of me killing my deer on a Father-son hunting trip at age 15 but the photo I had was taken with a 126 camera and not that hi-resolution but thanks to my Facebook friend and fellow Vinita Hornet, Michael Collins who posted this high-res image to Facebook I’ve got it preserved for my grand-kids. I miss this old truck!

The Jewish sons have a Bar Mitzvah at age 13 which is their ‘rite of passage’ in becoming a man. There is no clearly defined coming of age for teens in the USA but I must say that somewhere between killing my dear and buying my dads pick up is, in my mind, when I became a man.

In fact I love 1963 Chevy’s so much I’ve been known to pull over and snap a photo when I see one, flash forward to this past summer:

What memories do you have of your upbringing that are good memories? Hunting and fishing are some of my good memories of childhood. I’m glad we only had 3 channels on the television. This made us go outside and create adventure. I want my kids to have some of the same opportunities that I had! I have 4 sons: Michael Jr. Matt, Josh and Jeremiah; stay tuned you may meet them soon!
