One year ago today, I was in Jerusalem. 🇮🇱✈️ to run a 40 mile ultra.

I flew there not just as a show of love and support for Israel, but to take a stand—for the hostages, for Israel’s right to defend herself, and to say clearly 1040 Impact stands with you!

At the same time, I was there for something close to my heart: running an ultra-marathon through the ancient streets of Jerusalem to raise awareness and support for victims of human trafficking through our non-profit,

What started as a mission turned into a 40-mile (64 km) testimony—with my support team and a few journalists by my side, we pounded the hills (yes, hills, not flat roads like I had imagined 😅), pushing through exhaustion and pain. I ended up needing a wheelchair to catch my connecting flight in Qatar the next day… but even that discomfort was nothing compared to the suffering of the families who’ve seen their loved ones torn away, tortured, or killed right in front of their families eyes.
We continue to cry out to heaven for the peace of Jerusalem, for every hostage to come home, and for the name of Jesus Christ—the true Prince of Peace—to reign in every heart across the Middle East.
Now, one year later, I’m living and working full-time in Bangkok, Thailand, leading our growing ministry in Pakistan and Thailand. But my heart still beats for Israel—and for every nation across the 10/40 Window, including Syria, Jordan, Gaza, Egypt, Lebanon, and Iran.
💔 Yes, we mourn the brokenness.
🙏 Yes, we pray for peace.
🔥 And yes—we’re hearing daily testimonies of salvation in Syria, Gaza, and Iran. Jesus is moving!
He’s coming soon, friends—for those who are watching and waiting. Are you ready?
I was amazed how safe the streets felt in Tel Aviv and in Jerusalem. Even though they were at war the feeling of safety was pervasive. As IDF soldiers, some of the ladies as young as 19 or 20 with machine guns and pistols on their belts to the older Commanders with years of experience.
I began my run at 12:01 am to avoid the heat of the daytime to log as many miles as possible before sunrise. I was at 26 miles by daybreak. By 10 am the blisters on my right foot were excruciating.
I noticed as Shabbat Shalom ended Sunday morning at 12:01 am the streets filled with diners and drinkers and families and friends celebrating each other, celebrating all that is Israel. Like a guest and a tourist entering the dark night of my life’s longest run, the laughter and smiles and cheers of my Jewish brothers and sisters, Certain of victory in the face of such pure evil would never stop them, and it will not stop me and it will not stop you!
Shalom Israel
